A Healthcare App With 4.8★ on Day One
MediSync
We designed and built MediSync's patient-facing mobile app from scratch — launching to a 4.8 App Store rating and 85% daily active user retention in the first month.
The Results
Measurable outcomes delivered within the first six months post-launch.
The Challenge
MediSync's clinic network was relying on phone calls and paper reminders for appointment management. No-show rates were at 28%, staff were spending hours per day on manual scheduling, and patients had no way to view test results or message their care team. They needed a HIPAA-compliant mobile app that non-technical patients — many aged 60+ — could actually use.
Our Solution
We built MediSync's mobile app in React Native for simultaneous iOS and Android launch. Accessibility was a first-class requirement: large touch targets, high-contrast mode, voice-over support, and plain-language copy throughout. The backend is a Node.js API with end-to-end encryption, HIPAA-compliant audit logging, and integration with their existing EHR system via HL7 FHIR. Push notifications with smart timing reduced no-shows from day one.
MediSync operates a network of 14 outpatient clinics. Their challenge wasn’t clinical — it was operational. Patients were slipping through the cracks of a paper-based scheduling system.
Accessibility-first design
We recruited test participants aged 55–72 for every major usability round. Their feedback shaped the navigation depth (never more than two taps to any core action), the font size defaults (18px body), and the color choices (WCAG AAA for all text).
EHR integration without the pain
Connecting to legacy EHR systems is notoriously painful. We built an HL7 FHIR adapter that normalizes data from MediSync’s on-premise system into a clean API — so the app never has to know about the underlying system’s quirks.
Notification strategy
Not all reminders are equal. Our notification engine sends appointment reminders 48 hours and 2 hours out, but adapts timing based on each patient’s response history. Patients who consistently read messages at 7am get reminded at 7am. The result: 92% notification open rate, far above the 20% healthcare industry average.
"We expected our older patients to struggle. Instead, they showed the app to their families. Netronk built something genuinely usable for real people."
